John Toula
J.T. has performed in several successful Cleveland
based dance bands over the past 20 years. The JT3 is his first group
exclusive to the jazz idiom, although that was always his first
dream. Previous projects served him well as a primary source of
income for years, as well as, offering him a developmental process
for performance and business experience within the local Cleveland
musical community, both corporate and the club scene. He has taught
private lessons for years, and continues to take on a few students
within the context of an active schedule.
J.T. has always felt a special affinity for the trio format within
the realm of musical idioms. For him, the jazz trio allows a
grander, more extensive openness to listen and relate with in a
musical context than other vehicles.
He feels strongly that jazz is the most "spiritual" of all musical
forms. And with that, he believes in the attempt to let the music
and its spirit be guided by the unlimited possibilities within the
Field of Pure Potentiality, rendering a pathway for risks taken
subject to vulnerablity. This path allows and creates adventure in
the chances each performance endures and lives for, yet the
existence of these risks, as with love, affords the opportunity for
art that is willing to attempt its creative regenerative force on a
per gig/per composition basis.
J.T. believes a musician is defined by his "tone" and his sense of
trying to be musically tasteful. While each is both individual and
legitimate, they will always be guided by each artist's clarity of
thought and colored by his ability to explore passion. This is
sincerely and respectfully given testimony and honor to in the "Most
Inspiring" introspective.
J.T.'s personal philosophy is simplified by
saying.......................... The universe is essentially energy
and the information that guides that energy. For him there is LOVE
and CREATIVITY, at least when we are at our best. Really .......
what else is there?
"Expect the BEST! .................... 'cause your Attitude is
everything."
